A: This is a great area to fish. When looking across the surf at the waves, you will notice that a wave will form and then parts of it will appear to disappear. This is caused by a hole or deeper water. These areas are known as "sloughs". A lot of fish will be found in these areas waiting for food to fall into them. Hence, this makes for prime fishing. And sometimes these are found within ten to twenty feet of the pier.
